Connecticut woman uses Jeep app to get stolen SUV back

Brandon Parenti and his wife were having a normal night in Cheshire, Connecticut, until thieves targeted their Jeep Wagoneer. The couple was asleep when they heard the engine start up.

Parenti noticed that it was about 2 AM as he watched the stolen SUV accelerate down the street. The thieves took the Jeep in about 15 seconds. Their ring camera shows two suspects getting in before driving off.

They knew one of them had accidentally left a key fob in their SUV earlier in the day. While Brandon got in another car to chase the thieves, his wife called the police and used a Jeep app to provide live location updates.

According to Fox 61, she also started using the app to honk the horn, flash the lights, and trigger the panic alarm. This caused the thieves to abandon the stolen SUV, and police officers tracked it down within the hour.

But the thieves were destructive. They tore multiple electronics out of the Jeep Wagoneer in an attempt to disconnect tracking components.

They also ripped out child seats and threw toys and books out of the windows. The couple has two toddlers who need those seats!

Now, Parenti is dealing with cleaning the SUV and making insurance claims. The damage to electronics could result in being considered totaled.
