A rare 1996 Dodge Viper Roadster in “Ketchup and Mustard” colors recently went up for auction with no reserve. Guess how much it sold for? And, how much would you have paid for it?

Before you answer, let’s get into some specifics about this very rare supercar.

The ‘Ketchup and Mustard’ 1996 Dodge Viper was a very limited edition

First, this 1996 Dodge Viper RT/10 Roadster is one of just 166 ever produced in this color scheme. (Perhaps with good reason?) The 10-year-old, second-generation Viper has 17-inch “mustard yellow” wheels, “mustard yellow” Viper graphics, and a red-and-black interior.

The supercar also only has 25,800 miles on it. Only about 750 of those have been put on it since February 2023. Also, according to its listing on Cars & Bids, it features a few reliability modifications and a clean, accident-free Carfax report showing Southern and Western ownership since it was purchased new.

The seller also added an aftermarket amplifier, an ELK-960 fuel relay timer, an aftermarket fan timer, a Be Cool aluminium radiator, yellow intake tubing, and a power steering overflow tube.

The McDonald’s-themed Viper also boasts an 8.0-liter V10 engine, rated at 415 horsepower and 488 lb-ft of torque. All of that power is delivered to the rear wheels through a T56 6-speed manual transmission.

Throw in a “ketchup red” steering wheel and shift knob, 6-speaker sound system, air conditioning, a limited-slip differential, 4-piston front brake calipers, fold-away side mirrors, and a removable roof panel, and how much would you pay?

Someone out there got themselves quite a deal

Keep in mind that in 1996, a Dodge Viper RT/10 Roadster had an original base manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP) of approximately $58,600 to to $65,000. And this is a limited edition version of that – a “Ketchup and Mustard” limited edition, but still…

Before the auction ended, it had been suggested that the auction price could exceed $70,000. It ended up being sold for $40,250. So, somewhere out there, one lucky bidder is definitely “loving it.”
