Jared (@jared_mrjcarlab) sounded pretty excited about the 2026 Honda Accord, for one very specific reason.

Overall, the car isn’t changing much, but it’s the tires that have Jared excited. But there might be a new cost associated with these tires.

In the clip, he showed both tires on the 2025 and 2026 models, respectively.

“On the 2025 SE, this is what you get: painted black wheels, very basic, simple. Cool, but basic,” Jared said.

Jared then reveals the big change in wheels with the 2026 Accord.

“But for 2026, the SE model gets 19-inch rims, and I think it’s gonna make the SEs look a whole lot cooler — as it does on this 2025 Hybrid Sport,” he continued.

Jared believes this is a game-changer for the Accord SE and is curious if the viewers feel the same way.

In the description, he asks, “Is it enough?”

Commenters Don’t Believe It’s Enough

Some in the comments weren’t particularly impressed.

“So the new wheel is actually an old wheel repurposed,” said one person. “Not really an improvement. Nothing to see here.”

A few comments hit at the real, fast-coming issues. “Low-profile tires give a harsher ride and are more easily damaged,” commented one person.

But the notable comment was this: “Accord wheels have no reason to be 19’s just makes the tires more expensive.”

Jared might love the new tire, but it is, in fact, an old tire, and the cost of new tires for this car will add to the overall long-term maintenance cost.

Punching In The Numbers

First of all, the 2026 Honda SE has an $30,695 MSRP, and it comes with a bigger touchscreen, which is an additional value.

Honda equips the 2025 Accord SE with a 225/50R17 tire. The new 19-inch wheels on the 2026  use the 235/40R19 (96V XL, to be specific) tire size, the same as on the Sport Hybrid (as he noted) and slightly upscale Touring trims for 2025.

Price Comparison (Per Tire)

225/50R17 (2025 SE size) vs 235/40R19 (2026 SE size):

  • Avg. $81.69 (budget)
  • Avg. $105.00 (mid-range)
  • Goodyear Assurance All-Season: $180.99 / tire (better)
  • Michelin Cross Climate2: $211.99 (best)

235/40R19 (2026 SE size):

  • $89.79 Per Tire (budget)
  • Goodyear Reliant All-Season 235/40R19: $162.00 (mid-range)
  • Goodyear Eagle Touring: $205.99 / tire (best)
  • Pirelli: $310.99 (elite)

Set of 4 tires (comparable quality):

Tire Type2025 SE Tires2026 SE TiresCost Difference
Budget~$327~$359+$32
Mid-range ~$420~$648+$264
Better~$724~$824+$100
Premium~$848~$1,243+$395

No matter the tire quality, you’re going to pay more for full sets of 19s. All in all, 17-inch tires cost approximately 1.19¢ per mile, versus 19-inch tires at 2.2¢ per mile. Over 100,000 miles, using the typical replacement timeframes, an owner will pay roughly $1,000 more on the usual replacement alone.

19-Inch Wheels Can Lead To More Problems

What Jared isn’t telling you is that 19-inch wheels are much more vulnerable to potholes and road hazards. Their thinner sidewalls provide less protection, potentially leading to bulges that have to be handled immediately.

All of the costs listed above will increase due to the likely damage to the tire during ownership of the 2026 Accord.

Jared is correct; the new tires on the 2026 Accord SE are spiffy. But be wary of the downhill costs.
