High-Speed Police Chase That Reached Speeds of 130 MPH Ends in Wisconsin Cornfield
Dashcam video shared by the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office in Wisconsin shows a car going 130 mph in a 55 mph zone on State Highway 26. About seven minutes later, after a wild police chase, the dashcam shows that same vehicle being stopped in a cornfield.
In the video, at around 2:20 a.m. on Wednesday, a 28-year-old Green Bay, Wisconsin woman in a Toyota Camry is seen zooming past the deputy traveling in the opposite direction at a very high rate of speed in Winnebago County. The officer immediately makes a U-turn and begins chasing her.
The deputy activated the cruiser’s emergency lights and siren, trying to get the vehicle to stop. It did not. Instead, the driver blew into the village of Rosendale at speeds exceeding 100 mph.
“He’s got quite a jump on me. He’s passing traffic on the left,” a deputy can be heard saying. “Speeds are well over 100.”
Another deputy successfully deployed tire-deflation devices, but she kept going after briefly coming to a stop. The vehicle eventually lost a tire, slowing the chase down considerably.
The bizarre high-speed police chase eventually came to an end, but it took a lot of effort
After a 13-mile chase, the driver of the Camry drove down a dead-end farm access road through the snow and into a cornfield. As she approached a residential neighborhood, deputies used a PIT maneuver to finally end the chase. Three cruisers sustained damage while trying to box her in.
The Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office reported the driver then refused to get out of the car. So, they broke a window and deployed a Taser because she was resisting arrest. She was eventually cuffed and charged with speeding, fleeing/eluding an officer, recklessly endangering safety, and resisting/obstructing an officer. The woman also reportedly had a dog in the car with her.
Full video of the entire chase was posted on the Fond du Lac County Sheriff’s Office’s Facebook page. It can be viewed below.
