Hallmark Labels Canceled Mopar EV Xmas Ornaments as Collectibles
The auto industry is changing fast enough to give even the most flexible car buyers whiplash. It seems just a few months ago, Stellantis was all-in on an electric future. Now it’s pivoting, bringing back V8s, and canceling EVs in development. So what do you do if you’re Hallmark and you’ve already built and packaged 2026 Ram 1500 EV Christmas tree ornaments? You roll them into your line of collectible “keepsake” ornaments, of course.
During Stellantis’ 2021 “EV Day” announcement, it revealed that Ram was building an electric truck slated for a 2024 release. Then, in January 2023, it unveiled the Ram 1500 “Revolution Electric Vehicle” prototype. The REV looked like a familiar Ram 1500 silhouette, but it was covered in futuristic LED strips. I theorized that its independent rear suspension and several other features preview the sixth-generation Ram 1500.
At the same time, Ram announced a “Ramcharger” version. It would use a gas tank and Pentastar V6 in the “frunk.” This ICE motor could function as a generator to keep the batteries topped off, even while towing. The generator could run at a constant RPM, while the battery pack could support acceleration or power the truck up a hill. This setup mirrors how a diesel locomotive works and could potentially make it the most powerful and fuel-efficient half-ton for towing.
Ram began offering every half-ton with its “e-Torque” mild hybrid system. Then, for the 2025 model year, it cut V8s altogether and instead offered turbocharged I6 “Hurricane” engines that make up to 520 horsepower. But as EV sales lagged, Stellantis changed its tune. For 2026, Ram is bringing back the V8. In September 2025, the automaker said it is canceling the Ram 1500 REV, though it plans to move forward with the Ramcharger. It even suggested the Ramcharger might take over the REV badging. The Ram 1500 REV may still happen, but everyone will have an ICE generator.
Hallmark: Between a truck and a hard place
Someone at Hallmark may have spit out their coffee when Ram announced it was canceling the REV in September. The company already had Christmas ornaments boxed up, based on the eye-catching Ram 1500 REV concept truck. They share the same blue paint, the same aero wheels, and the same wide LED strips up front. To celebrate this holiday season, the back license plate says 2025, while the front says 2026.
Hallmark’s solution to the shake-up was brilliant. It announced its “Official Licensed Ram Product” as part of its “Keepsake Ornament” collection. A keepsake ornament of a one-off concept vehicle feels entirely appropriate. This year’s other addition to the Keepsake lineup is an orange 1969 Dodge Super Bee Six Pack muscle car.
Perhaps Ram 1500 REV ornaments will still hang on trees when the Ramcharger shows up in dealership lots. And perhaps it will look identical to this ornament. Or Stellantis could pivot again, and this ornament could live on as a tiny piece of forgotten Ram history.
