Georgia Man Wearing Only a Tablecloth Charged With Stealing Multiple Vehicles
A Georgia man recently wore only a tablecloth and attempted to break into several vehicles after multiple 911 callers reported seeing him. One vehicle he allegedly stole was a truck from a pool company.
The Gwinnett County Police Department reported that officers believe the alleged car thief may have exposed himself to chemicals while inside the vehicle. Later that day, when they located the truck that a pool company owner had reported missing, they smelled a strong chlorine odor.
While searching for the man, police say they received several calls reporting a man matching his description running through the area. They all said he was wearing nothing but a tablecloth. One of the only logical explanations for that is that he accidentally doused his clothes in chlorine during his first vehicle theft.
The alleged car thief entered a home while the residents were in it and took their vehicle
Eventually, the man entered an occupied home, took the keys to a Mercedes-Benz, and drove off. Bodycam footage and surveillance video show the man on the run. Gwinnett PD reported that officers quickly located the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop, and took Kahl into custody.
He was charged with theft by taking, burglary in the first degree, theft by taking, entering an automobile or other motor vehicle with intent to commit theft or a felony, loitering and prowling, and driving without a valid license.
