The Genesis GMR-001 Hypercar is officially ready to race

The Genesis Magma Racing team proudly presents the GMR-001 Hypercar at the New York Autoshow. It will be on display before hitting world-famous tracks such as Le Mans and Daytona.

Be sure to catch a glimpse of its breathtaking design that builds on Korean tradition with vibrant shades of Magma orange. The hypercar incorporates the classic two-line design. Plus, it features Korean Hangul lettering for magma.

With the help of Hyundai racing, the hypercar is ready to participate in endurance events. It features a V8 twin-turbo engine inspired by Hyundai’s WRC technology.

Cyril Abiteboul, GMR team principal, assists in helping Genesis realize its full potential in the world of motorsports. The team drivers include three-times winner 24 Hours of Le Mans winner, Andre Lotterer, and four-time victor of 12 Hours of Sebring, Luis ‘Pipo’ Derani.

GMR recently began its racing journey in the 2025 European Le Mans Series (ELMS) with an LMP2 entry supported by IDEC support. Its drivers included Jamie Chadwick and Mathys Jaubert.

While being backed by championship-winning Hyundai Motorsports, GMR will compete in the FIA World Endurance Championship (WEC) in 2026 and the ISMA SportsCar Championship in 2027.

The Genesis GMR-001 Hypercar serves as a dynamic testbed to elevate the growing Magma brand. Lessons learned on the track improve durability, thermal management, and hybrid efficiency.
