You may think that crashing your truck into water is bad enough. However, rescuers couldn’t get to one Florida man in a submerged truck because it was surrounded by large alligators. Some were over seven feet long.

Alligators block rescuers from Florida man in submerged truck

Police officers responded to the scene of a wreck near Cow Pen Slough Canal in Venice and quickly called for rescue divers. They determined that a truck ran off a bridge and vanished in the murky water below.

But the divers couldn’t get to the truck or the driver due to aggressive alligators. The large dinosaurs were surrounding the truck, making the rescue drivers pretty nervous.

According to the News Observer, the divers couldn’t get close to the vehicle until the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission sent trappers to the scene.

They wrangled the gators and noted that they were over seven feet long. They were then able to conduct an assessment of the vehicle. Unfortunately, the driver, identified as 19-year-old Freddy Chavez Sanchez, didn’t survive the accident. There is an ongoing investigation to determine his cause of death.

Police officers shared that the red Ford Ranger was traveling westbound on Rustic Road at a high rate of speed. Then it left the roadway, hit a power power, and plunged into the canal.

The truck was pulled out of the canal with a crane. It’s unclear what happened to the alligators once the crash site was cleared. I’m assuming they were released. However, no they’re probably angry that divers messed up their dinner plans.
