Honestly, saying Hyundai had a glow up doesn’t even begin to describe the tremendous growth that the automaker has been experiencing. It has diversified its lineup and increased production with plants in Georgia and Alabama. Now Ford has an opportunity to invest in its large trucks.

Hyundai wants to build bigger trucks for America

Did you know that Hyundai cars have been selling like hot cakes? The brand sold 4.14 million vehicles in 2024. Roughly 760,000 of those models were EVs.

Plus, the Korean automaker doesn’t plan to slow down anytime soon. It expects to experience 5 to 6% of sales growth in 2025 and to sell 5.55 million vehicles in 2025.

But to sell more options, Hyundai needs to venture into even more markets. The brand has a particular interest in building larger trucks for Americans to enjoy. It’s in a solid position to compete against segment leaders like Ford and General Motors.

However, these automakers could become frenemies by investing in its growth plan. As part of its initiative, Hyundai plans to increase its annual production capacity in Georgia from 300,000 units to 500,000.

According to Barrons, tariffs have weighed heavily on Hyundai, but its stock still managed to rise about 2% in overseas trading.

Hyundai and General Motors have decided to build five vehicles together. The options include an electric van for America. South America will get a compact car, SUV, truck, and mid-size truck.

Maybe if things go well, General Motors will help Hyundai fight for its place in the full-size truck segment. But maybe Ford will swoop in first.
