The Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado are notorious rivals. These trucks do everything they can to be unique. They don’t want to overlap. However, a new study reveals that the F-150 and Silverado share one significant drawback in common.

The Ford F-150 and Chevy Silverado have a bad thing in common

A new study shows that the Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado are the most popular vehicles to steal in truck heavy states. According to WTVM, the F-150 is the top option to target in Georgia and Alabama. The Chevy Silverado is the second most popular in these states.

The F-150 is also the most popular truck to steal in Mississippi, Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, West Virginia, and Wyoming. Then the Silverado is targeted the most often in Alaska, Arkansas, California, Iowa, Maine, New Mexico, North Dakota, Oklahoma, and Texas.

But they’re often right behind each other. For years, these trucks have consistently appeared in the list of the top 10 most stolen vehicles in the United States. However, the Hyundai Elantra is the most common option to take overall.

This could help the Ram 1500 and Toyota Tundra feel confident about their security measures. However, the Ford F-150 and Silverado are much more prominent among buyers. They have a higher demand.

That means that they can be sold faster in the used market. Plus, their replacement parts are more valuable. Oftentimes, these trucks are stripped for their tires, headlights, and bumpers, which are sold to repair shops.

If you own one of these trucks, then it’s not a bad idea to beef up your security. Park under street lamps or within range of security cameras. Consider getting extra security equipment, such as a steering wheel lock. Plus, always lock your doors and keep your keys with you.
