The Ford Expedition makes 3 popular General Motors SUVs incredibly nervous
Turns out updating your style and gaining self-improvements can be beneficial. The old Ford Expedition was struggling against rivals until it got a glow up. Now the fifth-generation model is making a massive comeback thanks to an attractive redesign.
The 2025 Ford Expedition crushes three General Motors SUVs
New SUV style, who dis? It’s the 2025 Ford Expedition, which kicks off the fifth-generation with a sleek redesign. Now it’s making a comeback against the competition.
According to GM Authority, the Expedition sold 21,747 SUVs in the second quarter of 2024. This figure increases to 31,298 in the second quarter of 2025, representing a sales increase of 43.92%
It has moved 43,307 vehicles year-to-date in 2024 and is at 44,780 so far in 2025, representing a 3.40% improvement. The expedition’s most popular rival is the Chevrolet Tahoe.
This family hauler sold 25,119 units in the second quarter of 2024 and 30,268 models in the second quarter of 2025 for a 20.50% sales increase. It has moved 48,443 models year-to-date in 2024 and 60,095 units so far in 2025.
Technically, the Tahoe is ahead, but it currently has a 25% market share while the Expedition controls 26% of the market. As the new Expedition rolls out, the Tahoe should be nervous.
Then the Chevy Suburban sold 11,779 SUVs in the second quarter of 2024 and 16,343 units in the second quarter of 2025 for a 38.75% increase. Year-to-date sales improved from 23,463 models in 2024 to 29,937 in 2025.
Then the GMC Yukon moved 21,446 units in the second quarter of 2024 and 24,866 in the second quarter of 2025 for a 15.93% increase. Its year-to-date sales increased from 39,492 in 2024 to 48,190 in 2025.
Unfortunately, the Jeep Wagoneer, Toyota Sequoia, and Nissan Armada aren’t on its radar. I have a feeling that the Expedition overtook the Tahoe in the third quarter, but there are plenty of months left in the year for things to change.
