A forbidden Toyota truck outsells the Ford F-150 worldwide
In America, full-size pickup trucks are the sales kings. The Ford F-150 and Chevrolet Silverado have been the top two best-selling vehicles for decades. But the rest of the world prefers a Toyota truck that we can’t have in the United States.
The best Toyota truck outsells the Ford F-150 worldwide
If you look at lists of the best-selling vehicles or trucks in America, then you’ll find that the Ford F-150 always wins. For 48 years, the F-150 has been number one. However, this full-size truck doesn’t have global dominance, which is a little surprising.
According to GM Authority, the F-150 sold 594,100 trucks around the world in 2024. It experienced a 2% sales decrease compared to 2023, but it will probably survive.
A mysterious Toyota truck is the best-selling truck around the world, and, unfortunately, Americans don’t get the chance to experience it.
The Toyota Hilux sold 616,200 trucks in 2024. It has a 15% sales decrease in 2023, but I don’t think it’s a worry. It still finished with a massive lead over the F-150.
We got the Tacoma to meet increasing emission standards while the rest of the world got the Hilux 1995. It was easier to build a new truck in America than to retrofit the Toyota truck.
In other countries, the Hilux has continued to be a legend. It’s referred to as the most reliable truck in the universe with incredible off-road capabilities. Plus, the Hilux gets turbo diesel engines.
All we can do is be jealous of our full-size trucks and the Toyota Tacoma. We try to block it out of our hearts, but deep down, we know we’re missing out on excellent foreign trucks.
