Police: 120 Mph Florida Super-Speeder ‘Thought That I Was Racing Him’
Break the law in Florida—to the tune of three digits—and you may end up behind bars. As of July first, drivers traveling either 50 mph over, or in the triple-digits, face a criminal offense instead of a civil one. And one Honda Civic owner just found out about Florida’s new super speeder laws the hard way.
The driver in question had pushed their Honda to 120 mph. In a 65 mph stretch of Interstate 4 in Seminole County. According to police, the 25-year-old male from Longwood is “headed straight to jail instead of wherever he thought he was going.”
The youth tried one of the most entertaining excuses I’ve ever heard. Trooper D. Paez Hernandez said, “The driver stated that he thought I was racing him.”
