If you were playing Florida Man news story bingo, this tale might land you a blackout. It has everything: Disney World, late-night drive-through restaurant runs, and, of course, firearms. Unfortunately, it left one Uber driver shaken. It also landed a convicted felon in serious trouble.

Just before 9:30 p.m. Jan. 1, Alexis Encarnacion-Rosado hailed an Uber from the Disney World employee parking lot. Disney has not confirmed whether the 21-year-old from Kissimmee works at the park.

The driver reported that Encarnacion-Rosado got into the car and asked to make a quick stop at Denny’s. It sounded like he wanted to pick up takeout he had ordered. The driver agreed. It was an understandable craving after a long shift at the park.

A late-night stop turns violent

Once they reached the parking lot, Encarnacion-Rosado went inside. Between 20 and 30 minutes later, the driver began to suspect the passenger had not ordered ahead. Instead, he appeared to have just placed an order and was lingering in the diner.

The driver waited for Encarnacion-Rosado to return, which is more patience than some drivers would have shown. When Encarnacion-Rosado got back into the car, the driver suggested an extra tip for the extra time.

According to police, Encarnacion-Rosado responded by cursing at the driver and spitting in his face.

That was the final straw. The Uber driver canceled the trip early. Encarnacion-Rosado “angrily exited the vehicle.” As the driver pulled away, he watched Encarnacion-Rosado reach into a backpack. He then heard gunshots strike his car.

The driver immediately called the police. Encarnacion-Rosado ran off and hid behind nearby homes. The driver stayed at the scene and recovered seven shell casings, which he turned over to authorities.

Encarnacion-Rosado’s identity was already linked to the Uber ride through the app. Police did not have to investigate long. Looks like it is a small world after all.

The passenger is a convicted felon on probation and was arrested again. Authorities charged him with shooting into an occupied vehicle, discharging a firearm in public, possession of a weapon by a convicted felon, battery, and criminal mischief.
