Florida man driving Jeep shoots at his childhood friend riding a motorcycle
Imagine you’re working on your motorcycle and decide to take it out for a test drive to make sure everything’s working properly. Even though you’re focused on your bike, you notice a white Jeep tailgating you. You recognize the driver as a guy you grew up with, but haven’t seen in years. Then he pulls out a gun and starts shooting.
No, this isn’t some “Orlando Howdy” Florida custom the rest of the country is unfamiliar with. This is a true story of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. And it gets much weirder.
The unnamed motorcycle rider was passing the campgrounds on River Road outside Astor when he noticed the Jeep Cherokee “staying on his tail.” He recognized the driver as Isaiah MacDonald, who he’d been friends with while growing up. But he didn’t remember any bad blood. In fact, he hadn’t seen the 23-year-old man in years. So he had no clue what was going on when MacDonald pointed a firearm out the car’s window and squeezed off two shots.
Florida motorcyclist tries to escape the violent reunion
That was the beginning of a truly terrifying ordeal. The motorcyclist tried to speed off and get away. MacDonald followed him. So the rider began evasive maneuvers, first veering into traffic, and then losing control of his motorcycle as he made a sudden turn. He finally shook the Jeep and went home. A text message was waiting for him—and it was from MacDonald.
“When’s a good time to come over?”
The motorcyclist confronted his old buddy, asking about the shooting. MacDonald denied any involvement.
The police located MacDonald immediately. He continued to deny everything, but there were big holes in his story. What’s more, a box of ammunition was clearly visible in his car. Still in denial, he volunteered to have the car searched. In addition to the bullets, police found drugs and smoking devices.
MacDonald is being held at the Lake County Detention Center. He’s facing charges of firing a weapon from a vehicle, discharging a weapon into an occupied vehicle, and aggravated assault with a deadly weapon. He’s also facing drug possession charges.
