What do people want? Cheaper cars! Ford is working to provide five vehicles, including a truck, cars, and SUVs, for under $40,000 by 2030. They will have a variety of powertrains, so don’t expect each option to be fully electric.

Ford has five cars for under $40,000 on the way

It seems like Ford is finally seeing the bigger picture as drivers complain that cars are too expensive. So hang tight, five cars for under $40,000 are coming by 2030.

The vehicles are going to be all-new options. None of the cars, SUVs, or the upcoming truck will be based on existing or previously discontinued models.

Plus, they will be multi-energy. So, those who aren’t ready to drive electric cars won’t have to. Gas-powered and hybrid options are in the works.

According to The Drive, Ford wants to hang onto 70% Edge and Escape owners. The Edge has been dead for a while, and the 2026 Escape is experiencing its final year. Reportedly, solid replacements for these SUVs are in the pipeline.

These nameplates haven’t been the most successful options, but they used to serve an important purpose. They provided affordable transportation for those who didn’t need or care for off-roading upgrades.

However, a lot of excitement is circulating around Ford’s upcoming truck. The mid-size electric truck is expected to start at $30,000. The ‘affordable’ Ford Maverick currently has an MSRP of $28,145, including the destination fee.

However, Ford claims it’s working to make existing models more affordable, too. Some sort of first-time buyer program is in the works as drivers currently flock to used cars. Hopefully, these used vehicles will survive until these changes occur.
