The final Ford Focus ST came and went–and you missed it
The Ford Focus ST was an absolutely legendary hot hatch. And now it’s extinct, truly the stuff of legends. U.S. enthusiasts remember the Ford Focus going the way of the dodo after the 2019 model year. But Ford kept building a Focus ST in Germany — until now.
After the 2019 model year, Ford cut all passenger cars that weren’t the Mustang from the U.S. market. The intriguing thing is that the Blue Oval still bothered to design an all-new fourth generation of the Focus that included a powerful new ST trim. Ford has assembled the fourth-gen Focus in Germany, China and Taiwan. But its days are numbered as it’s going out of production at the end of 2025.
During the final weekend of September, someone posted a photo of a bright red fourth-gen Ford Focus rolling off the assembly line in Saarlouis, Germany. Their caption: “Last Focus ST.”

Ford has made no official confirmation that this was the final Focus ST. But it’s interesting that someone at the factory had hung a big “Focus ST” sign in the window. Ford Germany isn’t taking any new orders for the Focus ST and is in the process of filling existing orders for the final year of the ST.
This final Focus ST was available with engines as large as a 2.3-liter EcoBoost I4 and, of course, a six-speed manual transmission.
Ford fans on Reddit mourned the end of the model line, though many were North American drivers who’d already made peace with the death of the Ford Focus after 2019. “Saddens to see it end elsewhere.” “The last Focus ST rolled away… proof that fun now comes with a battery and a fake noise.” And finally, “I have seen the future, and it is dumb.”
So there you have it. One of the last great affordable enthusiast cars will be gone at the end of the year. Luckily, there are still many on the used market. Check out nearby listings for used Ford Focus ST hot hatchbacks.
