The actual drivers in the FedEx trucks around your neighborhood are still committed to delivering your packages. However, the company is pretty angry about tariffs. It’s suing the United States Government for a full refund.

FedEx sues the US Government for a full tariff refund

FedEx has filed a lawsuit against the United States Government  and U.S. Customs and Border Protection to seek a full refund for every penny the shipping giant has spent due to President Donald Trump’s tariffs.

It’s suing after the Supreme Court’s 6-3 ruling, which determined that the President lacks the authority under the International Emergency Economic Powers (IEEPA) to impose such tariffs.

The shipping company alleges it incurred costs to expedite shipments through customs and is entitled to a refund of duties with interest as well as compensation for the financial harm it suffered.

You may have noticed that fewer delivery trucks have been spotted in your neighborhood. That’s because FedEx cut hundreds of positions for drivers and other employees to save costs. The tariffs led to a lower volume of shipments from Canada, Mexico, and China.

According to Truck News, it’s unclear how much the company is suing for. But in September, it claimed that it was expecting a $1 billion hit to fiscal-year earnings from United States trade policies.

But the shipping giant shares, ‘FedEx is committed to helping our customers navigate the regulatory environment.” It will communicate relevant information and updates in a timely manner.

UPS has also been hit pretty hard and plans to cut thousands of delivery drivers this year with buyout packages. Drivers of electric Amazon vans are safe in their positions for now.
