Another delivery driver couldn’t resist sticking his hand in the cookie jar. Police officers in Louisiana were getting pretty frustrated over reports of missing FedEx packages.
This comes as reports of porch pirates and camera footage of people running away with packages reach an all-time high. However, in this case, your package may never have made it from the truck to your porch.
Finally, there was a break in the case. Detectives were notified about a package that was never delivered and linked it to a suspect identified as 27-year-old Tyran Jackson.
Detectives got a search warrant for the FedEx delivery driver’s storage unit in the 10500 block of Perkins Road. Upon investigating, they found $62,000 worth of stolen merchandise inside.
According to WAFB, the piles of boxes contained high-value items, including Nike shoes, laptops, designer clothes, cigarettes, and other electronics.
There are additional reports of more stolen items linked to a separate location. Another driver, identified as 31-year-old Draterrius McCollough, had $32,000 worth of stolen packages in his apartment. It’s unclear if the two are connected.
There is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the East Baton Rouge Sheriff’s Office into the matter. However, Jackson has been arrested in connection with the case.
On an interesting note, investigators also used tracking devices inside packages to track missing items.
