In 2025, Elon Musk claimed Jeffrey Epstein “tried repeatedly to get me to visit his island. I declined.” But in the latest release of files by the DOJ, Musk appears to have confirmed plans to have lunch with the man he’s called “obviously a creep.” He also asked about visiting Epstein’s island in both 2012 and 2013, even asking “What day/night will be the wildest party on your island?” Could these revelations hurt Tesla’s sales any more?

Elon Musk didn’t become especially interested in politics until the second Trump campaign. He donated over $250 million to various MAGA super PACs and even danced at rallies for President Trump.

Musk was rewarded with a role as an advisor to President Trump, with apparent free rein over the Department of Government Efficiency. In his 30 days as a “special government employee,” DOGE cut 270,000 government jobs, including in the Veterans Affairs and Health and Human Services departments. It’s been widely criticized for aggressive cuts at the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, which oversees Tesla, and at the IRS, impacting its ability to audit the highest-income individuals—including Musk himself.

A survey of Tesla investors revealed that 85% believe CEO Elon Musk’s politics have “negative” or even “extremely negative” impact on the company. Tesla’s sales have indeed fallen for two years in a row. The automaker recently cancelled two entire model lines and plans to build robots at its California factory instead.

Musk has been quick to say Epstein is “obviously a creep.” And he always insisted that Epstein “tried repeatedly to get me to visit his island. I declined.” The DOJ’s latest release of 3 million documents from its infamous “Epstein files” seems to contradict this.

What Elon Musk actually wrote in his emails to Jeffrey Epstein

In one email, Musk’s assistant confirms a lunch with Jeffrey Epstein at SpaceX in 2013. There’s no further evidence the lunch actually took place. There is also no further evidence that Elon Musk visited Epstein’s island (Little St. James). But he was certainly considering it. And not for wholesome reasons.

First and foremost, many of the world’s wealthiest meet and mingle in the general area of the British Virgin Islands for the holidays. So it’s not surprising Musk planned to be in the area.

The first email we see appears to be in the latter stages of planning for a confirmed visit. In November 2012, Epstein asked Musk “how many people will you be for the heli to island.” Musk responded “Probably just Talulah [his wife at the time] and me. What day/night will be the wildest party on your island?”

On December 25th, Epstein again urged Musk to visit, reaffirming he could use the helicopter. Musk said, “Do you have any parties planned? I’ve been working to the edge of sanity this year and so, once my kids head home after Christmas, I really want to hit the party scene in St Barts or elsewhere and let loose. The invitation is much appreciated, but a peaceful island experience is the opposite of what I’m looking for.”

Just after New Year’s, Musk said, ““Logistics won’t work this time around.”

Elon Musk asked ‘Is there a good time to visit?’ Epstein’s island again in 2013

It appears the two attempted a get-together the next holiday season. In December 2013, Elon Musk asked, “Will be in the BVI/St Bart’s area over the holidays. Is there a good time to visit?” Epstein responded, “any day 1st – 8th . play it by ear if you want. always space for you.”

Later, Epstein clarified, “Bad news- Unfortunately , my schedule will keep me in New York . I was really looking forward to finally spending some time together with just fun as the agenda. so i am very disappointed. Hopefully we can schedule another time in the near future.” The wording suggests Musk had already spent time with the financier, with more than “just fun” on the agenda. Perhaps this was the 2013 lunch at SpaceX. Epstein was convicted as a sex offender in 2008.

So could this possibly hurt Tesla’s sales any more? Elon Musk appears to think so, as evidenced by the fact that he bothered responding to the release of the emails. His post on X reads, “If I actually wanted to spend my time partying with young women, it would be trivial for me to do so without the help of a creepy loser like Epstein…But I don’t.”
