Edmunds Says These Are the 9 Best Four-Door Sedans Under $30,000
With new car prices seemingly rising by the month, anyone who doesn’t want to spend much has found their choices increasingly limited. However, according to Edmunds’ car experts, it is still possible to get a good new car at a relatively reasonable price. You just have to know where to look. Luckily, they already looked for everyone and came up with a list of the best four-door sedans for under $30,000.
As Edmunds explains, “even though average transaction prices of both new and used cars have been trending up for several years, new car shoppers will likely find that even an automaker’s cheapest offering is going to provide you with decent transportation and some surprising comfort and convenience features.”
Extra-Small Sedans
According to Edmunds, the Nissan Versa isn’t just the least expensive four-door sedan; it’s also the cheapest car on the market overall. It starts at just $18,635 for the base S trim with a manual transmission. Add $1,800 to get it with a continuously variable automatic transmission (CVT). The Versa SR, the most expensive version at $22,635, comes with heated front seats, automatic climate control, and adaptive cruise control. Unfortunately, Nissan has discontinued the cheapest car in the U.S. and won’t be selling a 2026 model.
Small Sedans
In the small sedan category, Edmunds says the best overall four-door sedan for under $30,000 is the 2026 Honda Civic. To get one at that price, you have to go for the non-hybrid LX and Sport trims, starting at $25,890 and $27,890, respectively. Despite its low base price, the Civic LX still comes with adaptive cruise control, lane centering, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Moving up to the Sport model adds alloy wheels and slick interior fabric.
Another top option for under $30,000 in the four-door sedan category, according to Edmunds, is the 2026 Kia K4. First off, the 2026 K4 LX model has the same starting price as the 2025 model: $23,535. It comes with a 12.3-inch infotainment display, wireless smartphone integration, four USB-C charging ports, adaptive cruise control, and lane-centering technology. For just $1,000 more, the LXS adds 16-inch alloy wheels and blind-spot warning. Take another step up to the GT-Line Turbo trim, and you’re still under $30K, despite adding Harman Kardon audio, a large sunroof, and a two-tone interior.

Edmunds’ third choice in the small four-door sedan category is the 2026 Hyundai Elantra. The Elantra SE begins at $23,870 and comes with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, as well as LED headlights. The SEL Sport adds dual-zone climate control, wireless charging, and adaptive cruise control for less than $25,000. The Elantra Limited with leather interior and heated seats, and the Elantra Hybrid, also come in under $30K.
The Volkswagen Jetta also makes Edmunds’ list of best four-door sedans for under $30,000. The 2026 Jetta starts at $25,270 and comes with adaptive cruise control, a digital instrument cluster, dual-zone climate control, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
Midsize Sedans
In the midsize sedan category, the 2026 Honda Accord makes the list, but only the base LX model. With a starting price of $29,590, it boasts 17-inch aluminum wheels, full LED headlights, a 10.2-inch digital instrument cluster, remote engine start, and a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine.
Another sedan on Edmunds’ list of affordable sedans is the 2025 Toyota Camry. Unfortunately, all of the 2026 Camrys cost more than $30,000. The 2026 Camry LE is the cheapest with a starting price of $30,195. However, if you can find a new 2025 Camry, you can still spend under $30K and get a spacious interior, excellent handling, and numerous driver assist features, including adaptive cruise, lane centering, and automatic emergency braking.
Also making the list is the 2026 Hyundai Sonata. The base SE model starts at $28,545 and includes features such as automatic emergency braking, adaptive cruise control, and a large 12.3-inch touchscreen infotainment system with wireless smartphone integration.
The final four-door sedan to qualify is the 2026 Kia K5. The base LXS model starts at $28,735 and features a blacked-out exterior with LED lighting, along with a lot of driver-assistance equipment and a 12.3-inch infotainment system with wireless smartphone mirroring. The K5 GT-Line also costs less than $30,000 and adds embedded navigation, larger alloy wheels, an aggressive body kit, and heated seats.
