Have you ever been so drunk that you forgot to remove the gas nozzle from your SUV before driving away? Well, one Arizona woman knows this scenario all too well as she got busted with a DUI while dragging a sparking gas pump on the highway.

Arizona woman gets DUI while dragging sparking gas pump with an SUV

A police officer in Arizona was having a boring shift until he spotted something wild on AZ-101 just north of US-60. He looked up and saw sparks lightning up behind an SUV.

Upon closer inspection, the officer realized that a gas pump was being dragged behind a black Jeep Cherokee. So, the officer immediately issued a traffic stop. The fuel pump nozzle was still in the gas tank.

The driver was given a breathalyzer test, and her blood alcohol content was 0.152. That’s almost double the legal limit of 0.08. Investigators learned that she ripped the fuel pump away from a QwikTrip gas station.

According to KMPH, the Arizona Department of Public Safety issued a reminder to the public. Always check that you’ve removed the gas pump from your vehicle.

Torn gas pumps and dragging equipment cause serious damage and pose a real threat to you, your vehicle, and other drivers. So does driving drunk, for that matter.

The suspect was arrested for DUI. But I’m wondering if she’s facing any other potential charges, such as reckless driving or public endangerment.

Plus, she’s responsible for damaging that QwikTrip. Something tells me she will have a headache once she sobers up.
