Around 8 PM, police officers in Yavapai County responded to reports of a train versus truck collision. The train tried to stop, but couldn’t until after the initial impact.
Yavapai County Sheriff’s deputies found 44-year-old Clinton Harry at the scene and started investigating. They learned that he turned off the road and made it roughly 150 yards down the train tracks.
Harry was too drunk to figure out how to get his vehicle off the tracks as a train barreled in his direction. So he jumped out seconds before the impact. According to Prescott Times, no one was hurt. However, the pickup has a smashed front end.
Police officers arrested Harry for driving under the influence (DUI). His blood alcohol concentration or BAC test came back as three times over the legal limit. The legal limit is 0.08 or higher.
It’s safe to say that he was pretty smashed and might wake up with a headache behind bars. Harry may also face other charges based on the degree of damage to the train.
BNSF stopped all trains on that section of the tracks until an inspector could check the tracks for damage and ensure the train remained operable.
