Drunk Florida Man Picks Fight on North Dakota Amtrak, Stabs Crew
How does Florida Man get to North Dakota? He takes the train, of course. And in the case of Jared Long, he packs all the stereotypical Florida Man craziness for his 2,000-mile journey.
The police in Stanley, North Dakota, got called down to the Amtrak station for a helluva brawl. They concluded that 36-year-old Jared Long had punched one passenger in the eye and the back. When a crew member caught Long trying to hit another passenger, he pulled the Florida Man off his victim. That’s when Long pushed the crew member down the aisle of the train car. Then he pulled out a knife.

Long reportedly struck the crew member multiple times in the arm with a knife. The rest of the crew didn’t take very kindly to the attack. The train conductor rushed to the scene and subdued Long with pepper spray.
The injured crew member sought medical treatment when the train arrived in Minot. The train crew reported that Long was drunk and had started the fight. He’s been charged with aggravated assault, reckless endangerment, and simple assault. He’ll need to appear in North Dakota for his March 12th trial. In the meantime, his bond is $2,500. Something tells me that even if Long can post bail, he’ll need to find another mode of transportation home.
