‘Crack Cocaine and Adderall’ Rhode Island Driver Stabbed After Chasing Men With Truck
Things got pretty violent in Rhode Island during a cocaine-fueled altercation. Police officers scrambled to take control of the scene as a truck driver tried to hit men in the street. Then he was stabbed as gunshots were fired.

Police officers had their hands full as they responded to reports of a violent altercation in Johnston, Rhode Island, around 3 AM.
Things escalated quickly as the suspect, identified as 25-year-old Nathan Mercado, accelerated his truck toward two individuals standing along the side of Starr Street. The men jumped out of the way.
Mercado turned around and headed in their direction when a gunshot was fired. Then he exited the vehicle and was surrounded. A suspect identified as 28-year-old Yoneil Perez stabbed Mercado and ran as more gunshots were fired.
Mercado was found later in his disabled truck around Randall Street. Police officers immediately initiated an emergency response, and he was taken to the hospital. He survived, and they found crack cocaine and adderall inside the vehicle.
According to Patch, four men were apprehended by the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force on Johnston Police Department arrest warrants.
Mercado faces charges for felony assault. Felony and misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance, reckless driving, and disorderly conduct. Perez faces charges for felony assault and disorderly conduct.
Two more men, including 22-year-old Randy Hiraldo Acosta and 28-year-old Giovanni Pena, surrendered and face charges of disorderly conduct.
There is an ongoing investigation into the incident. Detectives are continuing to review evidence and follow up on additional leads.
