A man was driving a stolen Hyundai through Oregon late on Saturday night when he parked outside marijuana dispensary in Gresham. Around 1 AM on Sunday, someone called in the suspicious parking job and when police ran the car’s plates they realized it had been reported stolen.

Officers arrived on Northwest 181st Avenue to investigate in the early hours of Sunday morning. This would have been a great time for the driver to cooperate. But instead he got out of his car. And then he confronted the officers.

The Gresham Police Department reports the driver began by shoving one officer. Then he fought other police officers.

You can probably guess the story doesn’t end well for the combative suspect. The police did end up taking him into custody. Then they took him to a nearby hospital for evaluation.

They found a loaded firearm magazine in his pocket. When they searched the stolen car they found a matching handgun with its serial number “obliterated.” Police also found drugs they suspect are fentanyl. Finally, there was a passenger in the car who was also taken into custody. So far, the Gresham Police Department hasn’t announced charges for either the driver or passenger.
