“Desperate to Sell Overpriced Inventory” – Man Says Plummeting Jeep Sales Make it a Prime Target for Bargain Hunters, Should You Get One?
Car shopping devotee Car Edge says 2025 hasn’t been kind to Jeep. According to a recent TikTok he posted online, the brand has experienced a sales decline. Which could be good news for anyone interested in purchasing a new Jeep.
“All right gang, Jeep dealers are desperate to move inventory. Q1 sales data just came out and it is not good,” he tells viewers before his clip transitions to a sales chart. The infographic shows a variety of different car brands and along with various analytics. According to the numbers, there are several brands experiencing sales slumps. Fiat shows -59.4% drop in moved units and Toyota North America also shows a dip as well: an 8.8% one.
Jeep Q1 2025 Drop
Car Edge’s video focuses on Jeep’s 20.2% market fall, however. “So if you look up there you can see that Jeep’s sales for Q1 were down twenty percent year over year. And once you start to dig into the data, it starts to make sense why.”
According to the TikToker, people are buying fewer Jeeps due to the brand’s decision to charge more for its cars. “Jeep average transaction prices used to be less than $40,000 dollars. And while now the average transaction price is closer to $55,000. So Jeep has intentionally decided to move up market,” he says.
Following this, his video jumps back to a screenshot of a 2023 Jeep Grand Wagoneer. The seller’s price for the large SUV sits at a whopping $94,595. “So back to this Grand Wagoneer that I found for sale in Scottsdale, Arizona. This dealer’s only had it on their lot for 61 days. The market day supply is 180 days. That means since there are 8 currently for sale it would take 180 days to sell them.”
Furthermore, he explains how this figure was arrived at. He highlights how many Wagoneers were sold over the course of 45 days: two. “That’s because only two in the last 45 days … that’s crazy folks,” he says at the end of his clip. What’s more jarring is that according to sales analysis on the website, the negotiability rating for the Wagoneer is set to be relatively low. There’s only a 20% chance, as per site data, that the seller will go down in price on the vehicle.
Stellantis Woes
Q2 2025 results for Jeep detailed a much better picture for the brand, however. According to Stellantis Media, Jeep sales in this time period enjoyed a 1% sales year-over-year sales boost. But sales for Stellantis, the umbrella organization that owns Dodge, Jeep, Fiat, Chrysler, among other brands, haven’t been doing so hot overall.
According to CarScoops, the first half of 2025 culminated in an 11% sales precipitation for Stellantis. The outlet writes that the biggest causes of these drops were Dodge, Alfa Romeo, and Chrysler. Dodge’s profits were especially worrying, as only 47,481 cars with its badging were moved between January and June. Which is almost half of the 92,735 vehicles sold during the same time period in 2024.
Further, more granular sales data about different Jeep models can be clocked in this Mopar Insiders forum discussion. Wranglers and Gladiators have become more popular, but other cars, like the Cherokee, Renegade and Grand Wagoneer all saw substantial dips.
Is it a Good Time to buy a new Jeep?
Basic supply and demand rules apply to any new car negotiations. As is often the case with vehicle sales, looking at local purchasing trends can help buyers secure better deals. If a specific model isn’t all that popular in a specific area, shoppers can use this as a haggling point. Additionally, learning how long a vehicle has been sitting on a dealer lot can also assist in whittling its asking price down.
Cox Automotive reports for 2025 that “previous model year vehicles heavily weigh down” Ram, Jeep, and Dodge inventory. Although the research firm did state that consumers may have an easier time finding overstock Dodge vehicles for a discount. Moreover, Cox writes that there are indeed leftover cars that hit lots in 2024 that have yet to be sold throughout 2025.
So deal-seekers can chip away at the asking price of these models before 2026 variants hit showroom floors. A Reddit forum discussion thread also features anecdotes from car-shopping enthusiasts who claim to have seen large Jeep overstocks. Keep in mind, however, that many of these reports were made in December of 2024. Which could mean that any cars stagnating on dealer lots have already been sold. On the flip side, if they haven’t buyers, again, could use that bit of knowledge to their advantage.
One Redditor writes: “2025’s are already on lots. Stellantis (parent company) has the highest days supply of inventory on dealership lots out of all the brands right now … Because of stagnant sales (Most people think their product is overpriced). Most of the dealers will be willing to work great deals to get any new Jeep/RAM/Chrys off their lot.”
