When you hear death wobble, you probably think about the Jeep Wrangler or skateboards. But when it comes to the class action lawsuit, the problem is actually related to Ford trucks. The plaintiffs are getting sick and tired of waiting for solutions.

Ford trucks death wobble lawsuit hit a snag

There has been an ongoing lawsuit against Ford trucks for alleged death wobble issues. The plaintiffs have been complaining about the steering wheel violently shaking in Heavy-Duty trucks.

The lawsuit includes 2005 – 2007 and 2017 – 2019 F-250 and F-350 models. The smaller F-150 is exempt because it doesn’t have a solid front axle and doesn’t seem to be impacted by the same problem.

According to CarComplaints, the problem is caused by the loosening of the track bar bushing and unusual wear of the bushing. There are also reports of problems with the steering dampers, shock absorbers, struts, and ball joints.

Plus, the lawsuit includes 12 reports of related crashes and about 1,265 complaints. The issue typically occurs at speeds above 50 mph.

Things are on pause because a judge decided to put it on hold in 2024. The judge needed to clarify the lawsuit in eight states, including Maine. However, Maine didn’t meet the criteria.

The plaintiffs asked to replace Maine with a representative from South Carolina. However, the judge agreed to name a new representative from Maine, not from another state. Ford then argued against this move, and the judge agreed again.

Ford also filed for permission to appeal a ruling involving warranty claims for Main and South Carolina, which was approved. However, oral appeals will begin this month to hopefully get the ball rolling again.
