A North Carolina dealership closes after thieves take $200k worth of cars
One dealership in Farmville, North Carolina is feeling the pain after being targeted by thieves. A group of criminals stole seven vehicles during a heist on October 24.
The vehicles were worth about $200,000 and the independent used car dealership has been forced to shut down and file for bankruptcy.
Around 1 AM, the men pulled up to D&S Auto Source and destroyed a security camera. Then they broke into the main building. According to Car Scoops, they were able to pick the lock on one safe and smash another open.
They got seven sets of keys for expensive vehicles like a Ford F-150 Raptor, a Mercedes SL, a Mercedes GL SUV, an Audi sedan, and two Porsche Cayenne models.
Police officers recovered some of the vehicles. However, the owner Spencer Beamon, shared that insurance refuses to cover the cost of the devolution of the cars because they have ‘theft recovered’ titles.
His insurance also refuses to pay for the vehicles that were not recovered. Four men have been arrested in relation to the heist.
The suspects were each charged with felony conspiracy, breaking and entering, safecracking, larceny after breaking and entering, seven counts of larceny of a motor vehicle, and possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
