Georgia Dealership Adds an Unauthorized $4,000 to Woman’s Auto Loan
Well, when dealerships pull shady moves, we shouldn’t be surprised when they’re referred to as stealerships. A business in Georgia allegedly added an unauthorized $4,000 to a woman’s auto loan. Now the dealership refuses any wrongdoing.
Georgia dealership allegedly adds $4,000 to auto loan
A Georgia resident, April Allen, wants answers and a refund from a Kennesaw car dealership. She claims that her auto loan was increased by $4,000 without authorization.
She purchased an Infiniti SUV from Autonomous in October. Later, she discovered her loan includes thousands in additional charges that she never approved.
The trouble started days after her purchase was made. The SUV suddenly stopped working and had to be towed. Now it’s sitting in front of her home. It won’t start, and she can’t move it. She can’t afford the $9,000 repair costs.
According to WSBTV, she’s responsible for a $400 monthly car payment for a vehicle she can’t use. Police officers with the Cobb County Sheriff’s Office are looking into the financial lender to review the allegations.
However, the dealership claims the transaction was legitimate. It was completed through its secure online platform. While reviewing the paperwork, she found $4,315 in extra fees. There’s $1,500 for gap insurance and $2,800 for an extended warranty through Ally Financial.
Reportedly, emails from the warranty company support her claim by saying it never received funds for a voided electronic contract. Also, Allen claims the dealership forged her electronic signature through Dropbox as the documents lack cryptographic verification.
Autonomous has various disclaimers on its website. One states that the company is not responsible for errors or misprints related to advertising or pricing. It’s unclear if Allen will get the loan reversed.
