It’s no surprise that Ram and Stellantis are reversing course on a few controversial decisions. Drivers were upset as legendary engines like the HEMI V8 engine were dropped. So, is it shocking that in the meantime, customer satisfaction for Ram trucks is plummeting?

Ram trucks struggle against a customer satisfaction decline

The Ram 1500 got a mid-cycle refresh in 2025 that included a few choices that fans didn’t appreciate. For example, the beloved HEMI V8 was cut, and the affordable Classic work truck trim was discontinued.

Stellantis and Ram have started to immediately undo some of these potentially upsetting decisions as sales immediately declined.

But according to the American Customer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) Automobile Study for 2025, the automaker didn’t correct its mistakes fast enough. As a result, consumer satisfaction in Ram trucks has a significant drop.

Ram has the lowest satisfaction rating out of every auto brand included in the study. It earned a 69 for 2025 and is facing a decline of 10% compared to 2024.

The results are based on surveys conducted over a 12-month period, ending in June 2025. Drivers report how happy their cars make them in areas such as driving performance, dependability, and range.

Typically, drivers are happiest with their vehicle’s driving experience. But Ram truck fans want to experience the HEMI V8 engine over the impressive Hurricane inline-six.

Also, drivers are the most pessimistic about their vehicle’s future resale or trade-in value. The average 2024 Ram truck loses about 47% of its value after two years of ownership. This is a moderate rate.

I feel as if the Hurricane engine and RHO trim level deserve a chance. But with the return of the HEMI V8 and Ram 1500 TRX, you don’t have to give it a shot.
