About 630,000 Ram truck owners may qualify for $1,000. Cummins is bribing drivers to complete a diesel engine recall. If the engines aren’t repaired, Cummins faces massive fines, so it’s getting pretty darn desperate.

Cummins offers $1,000 to Ram truck owners to complete recall repairs

This is potentially good news for Ram truck owners and bad news for Cummins. All you have to do is complete a diesel engine recall repair to qualify for up to $1,000.

Back in 2023, Cummins was busted for cheating emissions and got slapped with a massive civil penalty under the Clean Air Act. The penalty for selling diesel engines with emissions defeat devices was $1.67 billion.

Plus, it has to fix 2013-2018 Ram 2500 and 3500 trucks equipped with the 6.7-liter diesel engine. Cummins was provided with three years to fix 85% of the trucks. If it fails to reach this number, it faces even higher penalties.

But Ram truck owners simply don’t care. The recall fix involves a software update that won’t reduce power. According to CarBuzz, it will use more diesel exhaust fluid as DEF injection increases. Also, your MPG will be reduced by 0.5 mpg in the city.

Drivers who get the recall fix will get an extended warranty. It covers emissions equipment such as the catalyst, DEF system, and 10 years or 120,000 miles since the initial sale.

If you get the fix by the  end of may you’ll get a $500 prepaid gift card. The first 750 people to respond will get $1,000. So, get your rear in gear. Cummins swears that the fix won’t harm your truck.
