Connecticut criminals abandon stolen truck during police chase

Police officers in Connecticut required the help of firefighters when a stolen truck suddenly burst into flames. Then a police chase ensued through an area known for heavy traffic as officers chased the pickup.

The stolen Ford F-150 may have gotten away, but the driver made a serious mistake. He slammed into the back of a car in the 600 block of Ferry Street, New Haven.

The wreck caused the truck to catch on fire, and the suspects didn’t stick around to help. According to WTNH,  they bolted on foot, getting away.

Police officers abandoned the hunt to get control of the scene and call the fire department. They assisted the driver of the car that was struck. By the time firefighters got control of the flaming pickup, it was charred to a crisp.

It’s unclear where the criminals stole the pickup. However, the owner now has to deal with insurance companies because it’s a total loss.

Police officers haven’t shared many details about the incident. For example, it’s unclear how many occupants were in the stolen truck. The department hasn’t shared any identifying details about the assailants either.

There is probably an ongoing investigation into the matter. Police officers may ask for tips, and hopefully, justice will be served.
