You arrive at a crowded gas station early in the morning and line up behind a work van to wait for a pump. The owner comes out of the station holding his breakfast. He went shopping without bothering to move his rig first. As you watch, he starts chatting up the driver of the van next door. When you ask him to move, the two laugh at you. What do you do? One Redditor from Wales came up with the absolutely perfect revenge.

This particular morning commuter admitted the van owner really got under her skin. “They were aware of us waiting and were clearly loving the fact that they were holding us all up, even turning to laugh arrogantly at the guy waiting next to me who called to them to move away from the pumps.” To be honest, this van owner sounds like the worst kind of citizen.

Karma hits quicker when you drive a company van

The van owner had one Achilles’ heel: “The moron was a plasterer and had his name and phone number written all over his van.”

A less creative person might have just called the tradesman’s number and given him an earful. But this particular driver dreamed up an even more perfect payback.

“I called him up and said I’d bought a house in need of renovation and needed a quote.”

“He was only too happy to quote for a big project, assuring me he was great at his trade.” Sounds like they’d caught the van driver: hook, line, and sinker. Time for phase two.

“I gave him the address of a run-down house a few streets away from me that had recently sold at auction.” Plausible setup. “We arranged for him to call the following day. Of course, I wasn’t there!!”

The appointment with the rude plasterer

By “call,” this Welsh driver meant “visit.” Naturally, they stood the rude van owner up. “He rang a few times and left a voicemail checking where I was.”

Did the jilted driver leave it at that and ghost the van owner? No, they took things even further. “Eventually, I called him back, very apologetic, said my husband had fallen off a ladder.” The van owner even believed the story. “He said OK, I’ll re-arrange the visit. We arranged another time a few days later.”

You can probably guess—our annoyed driver stood him up again. “The next appointment came and I had two more messages from him, clearly annoyed I wasn’t there again.”

So did the frustrated driver wash their hands of the whole situation? Nope, they had to really drive the point home. “I called him back again and apologised. I said I could totally understand his anger and wasted time. It reminded me of the time I was sat at a petrol station a few weeks ago and some idiot and his mate stood having a good ole chat whilst laughing at the drivers waiting to use the pumps.”

Revenge: a dish best served after hours of waiting. “I heard the penny drop! That was when the raging and swearing started, which just set me off roaring with laughter.”

The van owner was absolutely outraged. And he made sure the driver knew it. “I spent the next few weeks blocking various numbers sending abusive texts.” Did the driver mind? Not in the least: “It amused me to keep getting his texts for weeks after… it proved that I’d really p***ed him off!! I didn’t interact further, but smiled each time I got another hate-spewing message ? then just blocked another of his mates’ numbers. I think he ran out of mates willing to lend him their phone after a few weeks ?” You can see the full story embedded below:
