The Chevrolet Silverado is a wildly popular truck.  In 2025, the Chevy Silverado and GMC Sierra’s combined sales took the “America’s favorite truck” crown from the Ford F-150. But one Chevy truck’s powertrain’s sales lagged: the Silverado EV.

General Motors is struggling to sell electric Silverados. By December 2025, 11.9% of 2024 model year Silverado EVs were still collecting dust on dealership lots. So it’s no surprise that GM is scrambling.

When GM announced 2026 pricing, it was clear Silverado EVs are now priced to move. Here’s how that broke down by trim: 5WT Extended Range MSRP dropped $1,200 to $68,295. The 8WT Max Range MSRP shed $1,500 and landed at $76,295. Chevy introduced a new base trim, the 4WT Standard Range priced at $54,895. That’s  $2,200 less than the outgoing entry-level Silverado EV.

The most dramatic price drop for any trim range goes to the Trail Boss. Its price plummeted  $17,300 to $72,095.

These aren’t the only moves GM is making. It’s also throttling Silverado EV production way back. It assembles the Silverado EV at Factory Zero—on the Detroit-Hamtramck border—alongside the GMC Sierra EV, GMC Hummer EV, and Cadillac Escalade IQ. In late October, GM cut all three shifts at Factory Zero. It’s since re-opened, but with only one active shift.
