Be careful, you might get second-hand embarrassment from Chevrolet. The latest Chevy Silverado recall involves quite the face-palm. At least the problem is related to forgetting something simple instead of a dangerous problem.

The Chevy Silverado has an embarrassing recall

If you own a Chevrolet truck, then you might notice that something important is missing from the glove box. Some Chevy Silverado trucks are missing the owner’s manuals.

Someone forgot to put them in roughly 3,408 2026 Silverado 1500, 2500, and 3500 models. But luckily, you might not have to take your Silverado to the dealership to correct this oopsie.

According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Chevrolet dealerships will provide the missing manuals. So, some may still ask you to take a trip to a local dealership.

However, in the past, this type of mistake has been corrected via mail. Either way, you will receive the manual at no cost. General Motors admits that the manuals were neglected during the production process.

Without an owner’s manual, the trucks fail to conform to certain content requirements set by the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standards (FMVSS).

For example, S12 of FMVSS Number 225 states how to use child restraint anchorage systems. Owners may need manuals to understand how to safely operate the vehicle in relation to safety risks such as crashes, fires, deaths, and injuries.

Without them, drivers could be confused. But General Motors is unaware of any incidents related to this problem.

Also, in my opinion, how many people actually reference owner’s manuals these days? People probably try to search for certain information online. Some drivers might not even realize that their cars have an owner’s manual these days.
