The Chevy Equinox and Blazer move from Mexico to America

General Motors is making massive production changes as it moves the Chevrolet SUVs and engine production to the United States. Officially welcome the Chevy Equinox and Blazer to America.

The Equinox is Chevy’s best selling vehicle that isn’t a truck and the gas-powered model will be produced at the Fairfax Assembly plant in Kansas. It will be made alongside the Bolt EV.

Plus, the gas-powered Chevy Blazer will be completely built at the Spring Hill Manufacturing complex in Tennessee. But not until 2027 when updates to the facility are completed.

According to MSN, General Motors is abandoning plans to turn its Orion Assembly plant in Michigan into an electric truck factory.

The changes include a $4 billion investment, including $888 million that is going to the V8 engine factory in Tonawanda, New York.

It will build internal combustion engines for trucks and SUVs instead. This move will reduce the reliance on current manufacturing in Canada and Mexico.

Mary Barra, Chair and CEO, shared that GM believes the future of transportation will be driven by American innovation and manufacturing expertise. This decision demonstrates the ongoing commitment to build vehicles in the United States to support American jobs.

The automaker is focused on giving customers choice by offering a broad range of vehicles they love. Hardworking Americans are building vehicles that drivers are proud to own.
