Hey, NASCAR, Chevrolet’s Grandpa called. He wants that old Camaro body back! The last Chevrolet Camaro rolled off the line in 2024. Now, over a year and a half later, there is still no replacement.

What will replace the Chevrolet Camaro in NASCAR?

Many drivers and Chevrolet fans were crushed when the iconic Camaro was discontinued. This left people with the freaking Ford Mustang to look at!

However, NASCAR isn’t letting go. It’s been over a year and a half since the last Camaro rolled off the line, and NASCAR is still using its body to race.

According to GM Authority, NASCAR has no plans to replace it. Before the 2021 season, Chevy teams used the Camaro Z71 in the Cup Series and the Camaro SS in the Xfinity Series.

Now the teams are using unbranded bodies that simply say ‘Chevrolet’. They’re being called Ghost bodies. Some models still use Z71 to promote the trim level, though.

General Motors hasn’t announced any plans to make a change. However, the body style is expected to be updated by the 2026 NASCAR season. Also, rumors suggest that the muscle car isn’t really dead.

It could be revived as an electric car with a four-door body style. But as interest in electric cars declines, I wouldn’t be surprised if it comes back with gas and or hybrid powertrains.

Other rumors suggest that a Corvette-based NASCAR car isn’t in the works, either. The Chevy Blazer SS is being positioned as a potential race car. However, it’s all electric. Clearly, the Camaro is sticking around for a few more years.
