‘Like an Asteroid Hit’: Out of Control Car Crashes Through Fence and Into House in New York
A homeowner in Rochester, New York, says he fell “out of his chair” when a car crashed through his neighbor’s fence and then into his house. The accident happened around 9:45 p.m. this past Saturday night.
After the homeowner checked on the occupants of the vehicle that crashed into his house, he called 911. While he was making the call, they took off.
“I asked them, ‘Are you okay?’ and the one guy said, ‘Oh, yeah, I’m okay, but my cousin isn’t okay,” the homeowner, Jonathan Hammond, told Rochester First.
He said he caught them leaving the scene on his home security camera. In the footage, one man can be seen groaning as he makes his way down the sidewalk.
The homeowner said he has asked the city to put speed bumps on his street
“I fell right out of my chair. It seemed like an asteroid hit the house or something,” said the homeowner, Jonathan Hammond. He also said that speeding is quite common on his street.
“It would be nice if there were a traffic light here. I put in stuff for them to put in speed bumps, being that I was hit by a car when I was growing up,” he added. (Speed bumps, unfortunately, don’t always slow people down.)
As for his house, the car was towed away, but now he has a big hole in his basement.
“[It’s a] hot mess, and I have all this stuff from my mom down here and my brother,” he said. “So, a lot of stuff got damaged, and I have a heat pump here, and [the car] destroyed that. It’s a big mess.”
