Students get a weird feeling as they went home on a school bus. The driver wasn’t exactly acting normally as she swerved in traffic. Police officers determined that she was driving under the influence, risking the lives of children.

Pennsylvania bus driver gets DUI while driving kids home

Roughly 54 children are put at risk while riding home from school. Dozens of students felt as if the bus driver wasn’t driving safely. They began texting their parents and expressing their fear.

The massive vehicle swerved in traffic, nearly hitting other cars and a telephone pole. One child was allowed to get off at an earlier stop because he was scared.

Police officers responded to reports of erratic driving at the intersection of Jackson Road and Third Avenue. When they arrived, the bus was stopped in a snow bank.

The suspect, identified as 54-year-old Kelly Weber, failed a sobriety test and was immediately taken into custody. According to NBC Philadelphia, investigators found a receipt for two bottles of vodka.

They also found two empty bottles of vodka and a larger bottle that was open in her purse. Weber’s alcohol content was three times higher than the 0.08% legal limit.

The school district reports that it’s asking Quigley Bus Company to review safety practices and increase drug and alcohol screenings for drivers. But she will not be operating for the school district again.

Also, Quigley Bus Company shares that Weber has been placed on unpaid leave as the company cooperates with the ongoing police investigation.

Children who watched the driver get arrested probably developed a new core memory. The school is providing counseling to those who need support.
