The Mayor of Baltimore thinks that having taxpayers fund his $163,495 luxury SUV is no big deal. The armored Jeep Grand Wagoneer is the most expensive government-issued vehicle in the history of Maryland. It’s triple the price of vehicles used by other leaders.

Baltimore Mayor claims residents don’t mind paying for $163k SUV

Baltimore Mayor Brandon Scott laughs about buying a $163,495 SUV at the expense of taxpayers. It costs thousands more than any other executive vehicle in Maryland.

According to Fox Baltimore, Scott purchased the 2025 Jeep Grand Wagoneer for $98,716. Then he purchased $64,779 in upgrades. However, other officials use vehicles that cost between $45,000 to $75,000 without thousands in extra custom and security features.

Scott claims, “A vehicle purchased in 2023 isn’t the same price as in 2025. We need to understand that reality.” But the MSRP for the 2026 Jeep Grand Wagoneer is under $65,000. Also, no other vehicle run through an inflation calculator reached $100,000.

He shares that officials keep asking him idiotic questions, and the price of The Beast, the president’s armored SUV, would never be questioned.

Scott explains, “I think the residents of Baltimore will understand. The Governor, Comptroller, and county executives all have vehicles.”

Others shared that the purchase highlights a disconnect between city leadership and residents struggling with taxes, infrastructure problems, and basic services.

Inquiries about the SUV have faced delays for months. Officials deliberately misdirected investigators to different state and city agencies while disputing who had the vehicle records of Moore, Bates, and Worley.
