Peter Corn

Peter Corn joined MotorBiscuit as an Autos Writer in 2020 and brings his quippiest Southern drawl to our table. Having, in his words, “helped” rebuild his dad’s 1959 MGA as a small child, Peter grew up loving vintage cars and trucks, adding motorcycles and all things 4×4 as he went.

Peter earned a Bachelor of Archeology and Creative Writing from the University of Alabama and has since melded his love of driving with storytelling. His voice, full of pleasantries and witticisms, can be enjoyed in The Gentleman Racer, The Vintagent, Gear Patrol, Iron & Air Magazine, and Classic Car Club Magazine.

Peter is a co-founder of both The Colloquial Magazine and The Fire Escape, the official podcast of The Colloquial. In an effort to increase his abilities in “ramping anything with wheels,” Peter has taken track training from Classic Car Club Manhattan and attended Rally School at Monticello Motor Club, where he was coached by eight-time Performance Rally motorsport champion Chris Duplessis.

On a lucky day, we get to hear Peter tell the story of his first car, a jewel of a 1958 Ford Fairlane, into which he dumped more time and money than made sense, but he has no regrets.

Land Rover Who? These Restomod Mercedes G-Wagens Destroy Defenders

The Land Rover Defender is the great-granddad of overlanding. Over the last couple of decades, builders have taken the Defender from rough-neck mud dog to a tweed jacketed, New England vacation-house truck. We have seen an excess of six-figure, leather-clad, halogen headlight, LS-swapped off-road monsters who only ever touch dirt for a posed picture in …

KOA Predicts RV Craze Could Cause Shortages Through Winter

The COVID-19 Pandemic has given us many flash-in-the-pan trendy activities to occupy ourselves during the quarantine. Most of these trends helped keep us sane but quickly faded away like baking bread, “Tiger King,” and home gym building. The automotive world, in general, has had to shift and adapt to help out and stay occupied. One …

The 2020 Ford Mustang Doesn’t Have to Be Good to Be Loved

Some cars are special. Certain models have been so deeply locked into the world that how good they actually are matters far less than what they are. Within the off-road world, the Land Rover Defender will always be heralded as one of the all-time greats, regardless of its actual greatness. The Lamborghini Countach is one …

BMW Finally Rolled Back One of Its Most Hated Features

The motoring community has accepted BMW into their hearts as one of the most consistently exciting and driver-focused car makers in the world. Rear-wheel drive, (sometimes) manual transmissions, and plenty of power are the aspects BMW has built its name on. The new 2021 BMW lineup should make some buyers a little happier. Though the German …

What the 2021 Kia Soul Has in Common With the Porsche 911

The word Icon gets thrown around a lot in the automotive world these days. Everyone wants to call the next “classic” or “collectible,” but the truth is that we can’t really know that and, more importantly, what fun is it to try? You can say a lot about the Kia Soul; it seems to be …

The Ravy Micro Camper Is a Bed on Wheels

Some campers are bigger than others. I’ll go ahead and take my Pulitzer now for that piece of hard-hitting journalism. In all seriousness, the growing popularity of camper, trailers, motorhomes, and all other types of RVs has made the market blossom to offer a wide variety of live-in vehicles of all shapes and sizes. On …

This Custom 1978 Toyota Chinook Is the Coolest Camper You Have Ever Seen

There are many killer campers out in the world these days. The custom camper scene has blown up into military-grade ballistic hulls, ground-penetrating radar, and all other sorts of over-built gadgetry. Don’t get me wrong, I love all of those sorts of things, and the super-tough monster rigs are awesome, but sometimes the simplicity of …

BMW Shows Off the 2021 R nineT Urban G/S In All Its Updated Glory

Retro styled cars, trucks, and motorcycles have been a big hit lately. Ford released the new yet old school Bronco and made the off-road community giddy with excitement, especially with its newest vintage concept. The same principle is at work with the new Jeep Gladiator, and of course, the Land Cruiser Defender is going for …

The 2020 Mazda CX-30 Has an Underwhelming, 2.5-Liter Problem

Mazda, like most things in the world, is going through changes. The once maker of simple and affordable cars has decided to make the change to fancier, more expensive cars. With its sights set on Lexus and Acura, Mazda has found itself a little stuck between the two worlds. The Mazda CX-30, in particular, can’t …

Your Car’s Stereo Might Change Forever

The only people who more neurotic than car people are audiophiles. The two things often collide as a matter of fact. Custom sound system shows and competitions used to be a huge thing. In the world of luxury cars, there is also a mad dash to have the best car stereo setup. OEM partnerships with …
Vintage Bugatti Badge

The Bugatti Badge Is Way More Special Than You Think

Bugatti is the top of the heap. We barely even consider Bugatti in the car conversation. These cars exist in their own realm, where mere mortals mustn’t be concerned. It’s not hard to understand why these cars are so highly respected. Usually, they are the fastest production cars in the world, until this year with …
Radar gun used to give speeding tickets

This Pickup Gets More Speeding Tickets Than Any Other Truck

Speeding; the perfect crime. Well, that’s not true at all. But it is probably the crime we all do the most. Driving is fun. Driving fast is also fun. It turns out we aren’t allowed to drive as fast as we want, and if we do, we get one of the least fun pieces of …

The New Fiat 500 3+1 Is Too Good For Us

Europe and Japan – and really most other places in the world – get cooler cars than we do. What gives, world? JDM cars (let’s not even go there). Australian Utes; they make me sad. And European sports cars. It’s all a little too much to bear at times. Well, now is another one of …
Luno overland camper conversion

Any SUV Can Turn Overlander With Just a Few Pieces of Gear

The interest in overlanding continues to grow. People love it. COVID has certainly only fanned the flames by increasing people’s desire to get away from crowded cities and into the woods in a self-sufficient way. Overland rigs can be intimidating, but Luno has come out with a few simple solutions to keeping your daily, a …

Make Way for the Kia Rebranding Onslaught, “Plan S”

We keep saying it, I know, but it keeps being true; Kia is killing the game. They routinely have launched winning models like the Telluride and the Soul. Although Kia likely doesn’t need much help selling cars, the Korean car company is still planning a major branding shift to launch 11 new cars by 2025. …

This Rolls-Royce Wraith Is Out of This World–Literally

Rolls-Royce is the North Star (pun intended) for hyper-lux brands across the board in many ways. Rolls-Royce hood ornament, the Spirit of Ecstasy, has been burned into minds across the globe as the symbol of quality and, of course, dudes with monocles with too much money. Well, Rolls is at it again with an extremely …

The Mini Countryman S ALL4 Gets the Coolest Off-Road Treatment on Earth

Some Nissan Juke Owners Might Snag Some Class Action Lawsuit Money

Warranties are meant to give us some sense of peace. They are meant to assure us that if there is an issue with an item, the company will take care of the said issue. This is not usually how these things work, though. Warranties often cost extra money and can create stress around buying something …
Woman wear face masks after the southern Italian region of Campania made it mandatory to wear protective face coverings outdoors 24 hours a day, to contain the coronavirus disease (COVID-19) outbreak.

These Once Floating Cities Are Now Ghostly Tourist Attractions

If boats weren’t already normally a hassle, cruises would feel like a relic from long ago in these wild times. A place where thousands of international strangers congregate in small places for days at a time? That may as well be Narnia at this point. If for some reason, you find yourself missing cruises, you …
