If you get a new toy, you want to take it to school and show it off. But driving a stolen car onto high school property is asking for serious trouble. Add a handgun, and that trouble multiplies fast.

A sheriff’s deputy pulled a car over in the parking lot of West Forsyth High School when chaos broke loose. Two passengers jumped out and ran. The driver tried to floor it and flee but couldn’t get past other vehicles in the lot.

The deputy approached the driver, who got out, assaulted the police officer, and ran. The deputy detained the remaining passenger. Before the deputy could check him for weapons, a 9mm handgun fell out of the waistband of his pants. The suspect is a juvenile but still faces felony possession of a weapon on educational property.

Stolen car and multiple arrests followed

The deputy ran the plates and discovered the car had been reported stolen. Police later tracked down and arrested all of the suspects. At least one juvenile is now being held at Alexander Youth Detention Facility.

One of the suspects is 19, so the Forsyth County Sheriff’s Office released his name. Crishawn Jamel Royster of Winston-Salem faces the following charges:

  • One count of felony possession of a stolen vehicle
  • One count of felony aiding and abetting, common law
  • One count of misdemeanor resisting a public officer
  • Five counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor
