Florida is known for wild activities. However, a woman was still shocked to be the victim of a polite carjacking. A masked man claimed he needed the car to see his grandmother. He apologized, but police officers shared that he had totaled the vehicle.

Armed Florida man apologizes during carjacking

A woman was sitting in a parking lot on West Colonial Drive in Florida when she was approached by a carjacker. A masked man approached her car with a gun and pointed it at her.

The suspect, identified as 18-year-old Kenneth Shears, said, “I’m sorry to be doing this, but I need to see my grandmother.” He promised he would return the vehicle later.

The woman thought it was a joke at first and pleaded with him. She offered to give him a ride to visit his grandmother, but he refused. However, he allowed her to take her purse, a bag containing a laptop, and keep her jewelry before fleeing the scene.

According to Fox 35 Orlando, Shears led a brief police chase before crashing into a parked car on a front lawn. Both cars have been declared totaled and Shears has no record of ever having a driver’s license.

Now instead of seeing his grandmother he sits behind bars and faces felonies for carjacking with a firearm, aggravated fleeing from police, leaving the scene of a crash, and driving without a valid license.

The woman wants to tell Shears, “There are better ways of dealing with whatever life throws at you. You don’t need to rob people and cheat your way through life.”

She’s upset that her car is a total loss. She doesn’t think her insurance will cover all of the unexpected expenses, such as rental car fees.

But I’m left to wonder what is going on with the grandmother? Is she sick, or does she make irresistible cookies with love? Why did he need to see her so badly?
