Arizona Man Takes Stolen Truck to Carwash, Rams Police Cars After Caught Vacuuming
What’s the first thing you’d expect a truck thief to do? Take the vehicle right to a chop shop? Do some donuts at a street show? I bet you didn’t say, “Hit the car wash.”
It looks like one Glendale, Arizona man stole a GMC pickup truck, looked around the filthy interior, thought, “ What am I doing with my life?” and decided the solution was to vacuum out his newly acquired pickup truck. Or maybe he planned to take it home and say he’d just bought it—but would need it clean to pass off his story. Who knows? But it didn’t end well.
Glendale police investigate a truck reported stolen at a car wash
Police officers noted a GMC truck that had been reported stolen at the vacuum station. Their first red flag might have been how aggressively the suspect was cleaning out the interior. They blocked in the truck, drew their weapons, and shouted for him to exit the vehicle.
That’s not what our neat freak did. He dropped the vacuum, jumped back into the cab, and slammed the truck into reverse. An officer had to leap out of the way to avoid getting hit. The truck rammed into police cruisers until it created enough space to drive back onto the road. The driver fled, dodging cars in the wrong lane.
Seven days later, police apprehended suspect John Graff. He’s facing charges of aggravated assault, theft, endangerment, and criminal damage. Maybe he should have just put up with the dirty truck.
