Residents in Lakeville, Massachusetts are gearing up for Christmas, with many relying on last-minute Amazon packages. Drivers from various carriers are working overtime to meet the increased demands of the holiday season, and clearly, some can handle it better than others.

Blake Brangan, a long-time resident, was expecting a package to be delivered on Christmas Eve. However, he received a message from Amazon that his package was lost in transit.

“It’s frustrating, but I guess there’s worse things to be frustrated about,” he told NBC.

Police were driving along a wooded road close to town when they discovered what looked like a dumping site. When they looked through the tote bags and large boxes, they saw over 80 undelivered Amazon packages.

The officers recovered the packages and brought them to the police department, where employees contacted the nearest Amazon distribution center. All 80 packages were returned intact.

“It’s just crazy that they were dumped in the woods like that, but I’m thankful for that officer who found them,” said Brangan.

The driver said she was ‘too stressed’

Police didn’t release the name of the disgruntled driver, though they came forward to say they were severely stressed by the holiday hours. She planned to report the abandoned packages to their manager but didn’t get a chance.

Amazon notified all affected customers their items were being reprocessed and would be delivered. Brangan saw his package delivered shortly afterward.

“It’s stressful times during the holidays, so I really feel bad for whoever it was. I mean, to just dump out all the packages like that,” said Brangan.

The Lakeville police decided not to pursue criminal charges against the driver. Instead, they’d leave it to Amazon’s HR department.

“I am proud of the way our Lakeville Police officers handled and investigated this matter. At this time, we are not seeking criminal charges and are considering this a human resources matter for Amazon,” said police chief Matthew Perkins.
