Sorry, your Amazon package might be stuck in a ditch. A semi-truck driver fell asleep at the wheel on the interstate, which caused the rig to flip over. Thousands of packages were scattered among the wreckage. 

Amazon driver falls asleep and flips semi-truck in Texas 

There are strict rules for truckers that limit their driving time. You can operate a semi-truck for 11 hours a day with mandatory breaks. This is because driving a tractor-trailer is exhausting, and driving tired is just as dangerous as driving drunk. 

The driver of an Amazon truck has firsthand experience after falling asleep behind the wheel on Interstate 20. According to KLTV, the incident occurred near Rabbit Creek around 2 AM. 

Due to the impact of hitting a concrete barrier, the tractor-trailer flipped off the road. It landed upside down in a culvert below. 

Police officers and firefighters rushed to the scene to pull the driver to safety and secure the area. The driver was airlifted to the hospital. Luckily, he wasn’t injured and is fine. But the trailer and cab were totaled.. 

The semi-truck was smashed beyond recognition, and the trailer was crushed during the impact and sent thousands of packages flying. Three dumpsters were used to collect mangled cardboard boxes. 

Emergency crews used a crane to lift the rig out of the culvert. It’s unclear if diesel or other liquids contaminated the creek water. 

The process of clearing the accident took nearly 12 hours. Traffic was unable to resume as normal until about 4 PM. There’s nothing like picking up wet cardboard. Sorry, but your package might be delayed.
