Huntsville drivers got an unwelcome surprise after a fuel mix-up at a Twice Daily gas station. Customers who paid for premium gasoline instead filled their tanks with diesel fuel. Some vehicles broke down before drivers could even make it home.

Local news station WAFF 48 reported, “Many people told WAFF 48 their cars broke down on Saturday, shortly after they went to the Twice Daily gas station on Winchester Road.”

Chad Campbell initially assumed something was wrong with his car. The station had no way to contact customers after the mistake. Campbell returned the next day and noticed all the pumps were shut down. An employee then confirmed the mix-up. “I would’ve never known,” Campbell admitted.

Drivers connect the dots on Facebook

Campbell later shared his experience on Facebook. His post prompted a flood of responses from other drivers. Several said their cars had suffered strange issues, but they hadn’t known why.

Marcus Friend commented that his wife drove to the grocery store after filling up. Her car broke down there. “Had we not seen [Campbell’s post] on Facebook, we would’ve been stranded and not known why,” Friend said.

“This shouldn’t be on us. It wasn’t our fault, had nothing to do with us other than going to get gas,” Friend added. “We’re hoping that the gas company will do what they’re supposed to do and take care of this.”

The station’s parent company, Tri-Star Energy, has not responded to WAFF 48’s requests for comment.
