This incident makes me question airport security in New York. A woman easily snuck onto an airplane heading to Paris without a ticket. She managed to infiltrate a full flight with no questions asked but now faces federal charges.

New York woman makes it to Paris as an airplane stowaway

To be honest, I’m a little impressed by Svelanna Dali of New York. While people should take airport security seriously, she somehow waltzed right onto a full Delta flight to Paris without a ticket.

According to Court House News, the 57-year-old woman admits to sneaking on the airplane but pleads not guilty to a federal stowaway charge.

She was seen on security footage slipping between two passenger lines and walking around a busy staff member. Dali then went right by a TSA passport check podium, ignoring the scanners to the jetway entrance.

She shared that she walked right on the plane while looking down. No one stopped her, and allegedly, she was sick. Dali hid for most of the flight in the bathroom, claiming to be vomiting.

When flight attendants asked her to sit down due to landing during turbulence, she gave them two fake names. Allegedly, she provided fake names because she was scared.

Once she got off the plane in Paris, she was arrested by French police officers and was held in custody until she returned to the United States on another Delta flight about a week later.

Then she was interviewed by the FBI, where she admitted to knowing that flying without a ticket is illegal. While waiting for court, she attempted to cut off her GPS ankle monitor and flee to Canada. Now, she is being held without bail.
