Federal Agent Drives Work SUV 1,100 Miles After Shooting Woman
Nothing makes you seem innocent like suddenly driving your work SUV over 1,100 miles away, right? Well luckily, for one federal agent, you’re innocent until proven guilty. Too bad the SUV is evidence in an ongoing shooting case and must be returned to Chicago immediately!
Federal agent shoots woman and drives work SUV 1,100 miles away
A border patrol agent was working in Chicago when he potentially mishandled evidence. The federal agent is accused of driving the government-issued vehicle during a shooting and collision.
According to Fox 32 Chicago, he may have shot Miramar Martinez five times and crashed into her SUV. Then he fled the area, traveling 1,100 miles across multiple jurisdictions to his home in Maine.
The vehicle is a crucial piece of evidence. The officer drove away after the incidents were recorded on his body-camera. Georgia Alexakis, the judge overseeing the case, has ordered the vehicle to be returned to Chicago immediately.
Martinez’s legal team worries about the mishandling of evidence as other cars involved in the case are still being held. Also, the evidence suggests that Martinez wasn’t a threat who rammed them as other agents claim.
One agent yelled “Do something b***h, “ while opening fire with an assault rifle. Her dark SUV has struck on the messenger side, while the agents had damage to the front. Officials also claim the agents were boxed in by two cars and one driver had a semi-automatic weapon.
But the police scanner audio contradicts this information as Martinez has a concealed carry license, her gun wasn’t removed from her purse, and she wasn’t charged for having a weapon.
Until they get to the bottom of the case, all communications from the agent who fired the shots must be preserved, all vehicle repairs, inspections, and washes must be documented and preserved.
Also, all Homeland Security communications including emails, texts, notes, must be retained.
